I've been irritated all weekend over the Rush Limbaugh, prostitute controversy. Where Limbaugh referred to a woman as a 'slut' and a 'prostitute' for wanting someone else to pay her to have sex. Or rather for wanting others to pay for her birth control. I personally don't see what the big deal is. He made a valid arguement, that if a woman is asking to have her sex life paid for by another, this in fact is the very definition of what prostitution is. Paid sex!
What irritates me about the controversy, is these companies that run away at the hint of controversy. If they get nasty emails from left-wing loons, they start to flee for the hills. My problem is that, these companies should have known what they were getting into from the start. And if they are caving to the left over what is nothing more then a matter of free speech, then it says to me, that these companies hate free speech. With that in mind, I'd like to hold these companies accountable. I'd like to encourage those on the right, to not do business with companies that bail on controversial shows. It would be one thing if they waited a few months, and then announced they were not renewing their contracts. However the way they left, leaves no doubt exactly what they are doing.
That said, the companies that kow-tow to the left.
